Iraq says Turkey's bombardment "dangerous escalation"

BAGHDAD, July 28 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi government Tuesday considered the Turkish bombardment of Iraqi territories as "a dangerous escalation and an assault on the Iraqi sovereignty," urging Ankara to cease the bombing.
"Iraq is committed to restricting any aggression on Turkey from the Iraqi territories," a statement by the government said following its session.
It called upon Turkey to respect the good neighborliness, refrain from escalation and sought dialogue to address the common problems.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari called the Turkish Ambassador in Baghdad to express concern over the Turkish bombardment. He also called on Ankara to coordinate with Baghdad over any military operation inside the Iraqi territories.
Turkey witnessed many violent incidents over the past several days, specially following the Suruc suicide attack that killed 32 people and wounded some 100 others.
Kurdish Workers Party's (PKK) militants killed and kidnapped Turkish security personnel and civilians as well, promoting the Turkish government to launch air raids on PKK positions in northern Iraq and ISIL targets in Syria. (end) mhg.bs
