Urgent PLO, foreign ministerial meeting set for August 5th in Cairo

CAIRO, July 27 (KUNA) -- Member of the Steering and Monitoring committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Saeb Erekat said Monday that the committee has called for an urgent meeting to take place August 5th in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
The Egypt-chaired meeting, expected to be attended by the region's Foreign Ministers, has been called to examine recent Israeli aggressions, particularly, the Isreli attack on the holy Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.
In statements to the press, Erekat, after meeting with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry and Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil Elaraby in Cairo, said that the meeting has been called at the behest of Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, in collaboration with the Arab League.
Moreover, Erekat added that all of the measures needed to form a unified and national Palestinian government as well as putting a decisive end to the Israeli occupation will be discussed during the meeting.
The Arab and International community have condemned the July 26 Israeli attack on the Al-Aqsa mosque. At least 10 Palestinian worshippers were injured during clashes with Israeli police and settlers after they had stormed into the mosque and assaulted the worshippers inside. (end) mfm.nam
