Int'l press body mourns death of two journalists in Somalia

BRUSSELS, July 27 (KUNA) -- The International Federation of Journalists , IFJ, condemned Monday a terror attack on a hotel in Mogadishu, Somalia's capital, in which at least 13 people were killed, including two journalists.
Abdihakin Mohamed Omar, producer for Somali Broadcasting Corporation, and Mohamed Abdikarim Moallim Adam, reporter for Universal TV in Gedo region were killed on Sunday when a car packed with explosives drove into a Mogadishu hotel and exploded. Universal TV reporter Salman Jamal, who accompanied the two killed journalists, was seriously injured, said the IFJ in a statement.
"We are shocked by this tragic loss that affects the journalists community in Somalia. We send our condolences to our killed colleagues family and friends and condemn this cruel attack on civilians," said IFJ President Jim Boumelha.
The Brussels-based IFJ represents more than 600,000 journalists in 134 countries. (end) nk.tg
