NEW YORK, July 17 (KUNA) -- UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon condemned the car bomb attack at a police checkpoint in Riyadh, that killed the driver of the vehicle and injured two law enforcement officers.
The UN Chief is particularly "saddened and angered" by the fact that this attack comes ahead of the Eid Al-Fitr holiday, his press office said in a statement released late on Thursday.
Ban called for the persons responsible for the attack to be brought to justice, and wished speedy recovery to the officers injured, as he expresses his sympathies to the Government and people of Saudi Arabia.
At the time of Al-Maghrib prayers on Thursday, the security men at one of the security checkpoints along the road of Al-Ha'ir in Riyadh, directed the driver of a suspected car to stop, he ignored the signal and detonated it, resulting in his death.(end) mao.gta
