Eurozone ministers call on Greece to present concrete proposals

BRUSSELS, July 7 (KUNA) -- Finance ministers of the 19-member Eurozone began an emergency meeting here Tuesday afternoon calling on the Greek government to present new complete proposals to resolve the debt crisis.
"I have not seen a new Greek proposal yet. We are in a very troublesome situation, now that the Greek people have rejected the existing proposals. The Greek Government must tell now how they would like to please their financial suppliers again. And this will require new proposals or return back to the old ones, this is what we will hear soon," Jeroen Dijsselbloem, President of the Eurogroup, told reporters.
On his part, German finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said "a week following the expiration of the program and after the referendum we are eager to hear the Greek government's proposals in the Eurogroup and the euro summit." "Without a program there is no margin for help to Greece within the Eurozone. Of course the EU has every responsibility towards Greece, but it's entirely up to the Greek government and we are looking forward to its proposals.I believe it is in the interest of the Greek government to present serious and credible proposals," he added.
Pierre Moscovici, EU Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs said: "We meet to prepare the Eurozone summit this evening with the central question "can we work out a new program as Greece has asked and under what conditions?" "We are expecting complete, concrete and proposals from the new Greek Finance minister Tsakalotos to be able to launch the discussion. A Grexit would be a terrible failure, we don't want it and we are available to work on the basis of an agreement," he added. (end) nk.mt
