NEW DELHI, July 7 (KUNA) -- A Turkish Airlines flight made an emergency landing at New Delhi International Airport following a message in the washroom about a bomb on Tuesday.
The Istanbul-bound Turkish Airlines flight Airbus 330 TKO65, which departed from Bangkok, Thailand with 134 passengers on board, made the landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi and authorities are checking the flight.
Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma said that the Bomb Disposal Squads supported by the Central Industrial Security Force will take more time to complete the process.
He added that so far "no explosive was found inside the cabin; the cargo portion is being checked." "The pilot was informed of a message written with lipstick on the mirror of one of the plane's washrooms that there was a bomb in the cargo hold of the aircraft, leading the pilot to seek Nagpur ATC's permission to land the aircraft there. The ATC directed the pilot to approach the Delhi ATC," Indian news agency PTI quoted sources as saying.
Turkish Airlines also informed about the diversion. "Turkish Airlines Bangkok - Istanbul flight (TK065, A 330 Aircraft, and carrying 134 passengers) has diverted to Delhi after a possible bomb threat. (end) atk.ss
