GENEVA, July 3 (KUNA) -- The United Nations Human Rights Council's applause of the international donors conference's results is tantamount to new international recognition of Kuwait's humanitarian role, the Kuwaiti envoy to the UN said.
Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghuneim, the State of Kuwait's permanent delegate to the UN, said in remarks to KUNA that such an international acknowledgement, being publicized for the second year in a row and implied in a resolution on human rights in Syria, "affirms the positive outcome of the third donors conference and the way Kuwait dealt with repercussions of the Syrian crisis at the humanitarian level.
"Kuwait has become an example to be followed in dealing with humanitarian crises." The UNHCR, in a resolution adopted late on Thursday, welcomed the conference's results, expressing appreciation for speedy response on part of the donating nations, as well as honoring previous pledges in this respect.
