Iran's nuclear talks deadline pushed to July 7 - diplomat

VIENNA, June 30 (KUNA) -- Iran and the P5+1 group decided to push the June 30 deadline of their nuclear negotiations to July 7, in order to overcome technical and political hurdles hampering a final and comprehensive agreement, US delegation spokesman confirmed Tuesday.
Concluding a final and good agreement required extension of the deadline for some days, the Austrian Radio and TV authority quoted the spokesman, who was not named, as saying.
Meanwhile, a spokesman of the European Union said the EU has decided to freeze part of sanctions on Iran for a week to pave way for negotiators to hammer out a deal.
He was quoted by the Austrian authority as saying this group of sanctions would be frozen until July 7, and they would be re-imposed if they failed to reached an agreement.
An American negotiator, who requested anonymity, was quoted by the Austrian authority as saying the P5+1 group tabled a proposal for the Iranians to end the dispute regarding the inspection of military facilities.
Iran's approval of the proposal will end one of the two major outstanding issues, he said.
The proposal, he added, stipulates that inspection would not include all Iranian military installations, but certain facilities named previously by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which believed there is a reason for inspection.
The other major hurdle will be the way the sanctions on Iran are lifted, whether as soon as the agreement is signed or gradually. (end) amg.bs
