EU extends freeze on Iran sanctions for one week

BRUSSELS, June 30 (KUNA) - The EU Tuesday announced that it has prolonged until 7 July the suspension of EU sanctions agreed in the Joint Plan of Action with Iran in November 2013.
The move is to "allow more time for the ongoing negotiations to reach a long term solution," said the EU Council of Ministers in a statement.
The announcement comes only a few hours before a deadline tor reach a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear file ends tonight.
According to media reports, Iran's foreign minister Javad Zarif is in Vienna today for talks with the P5+1, the US, UK, France, China and Russia plus Germany for an agreement on Iran's nuclear programme. (end) nk.ajs
