KUWAIT, June 30 (KUNA) -- Kuwait has exceptionally and properly dealt with the terrorist blast that hit Al-Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque last Friday, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim said on Tuesday.
As Kuwaiti mosques were packed with worshippers last Friday noon, black terror targeted Al-Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Al-Sawaber area of Kuwait city, killing 26 people and wounding 227 others, Al-Ghnaim told a parliament session to eulogize "martyrs" of the blast.
He added that "cowardly terrorism" sought to incite sedition, but instead a fabulous scene of popular and national unity and spontaneous mobilization was manifested.
Al-Ghanim referred to the impressive visit to the blast scene by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah directly after the terrorist attack took place.
He said that Kuwaiti people managed to turn their sorrow into rituals full of symbols and messages, creating a special atmosphere of solidarity, cohesion and unity, purely a gorgeous Kuwaiti scene.
The chief parliamentarian boasted the "rapid, organized and sincere reaction by all Kuwaitis" to the attack.
He said that Kuwait might not be immune against terrorism, yet national unity that has been growing over three centuries will defy filthy goals of terrorists, referring to the cohesion of the Kuwaiti society as the natural outcome of tolerance and coexistence in the country.
Al-Ghanim hailed all sectors of the Ministry of Interior for the rapid and professional response to the incident. He also commended the hard efforts by the officials and staff of the Health Ministry as well as other ministries and institutions handling the event, such as the Ministry of Information and Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
He concluded by praying for the safety of Kuwait and Kuwaiti people under wise leadership of His Highness the Amir, and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. (end) sss.rkf.msa.msa
