Visa processing back to normal - US

WASHINGTON, June 29 (KUNA) -- The US on Monday confirmed that visas are once again being processed around the world as normal, following weeks of technical problems.
"All visa-issuing embassies and consulates are now back online, and we're scheduling visa interviews and issuing non-immigrant and immigrant visas," State Department Spokesperson Mark Toner told reporters.
"We issued more than 410,000 non-immigrant visas from June 23 through June 29. And consular staff around the world worked throughout the weekend to diminish our backlog, the bulk of which has now been cleared," he added.
"We regret the inconvenience to travelers who are waiting for visas as well as their families and US businesses that have been affected by this problem," he affirmed. (end) ys.tg
