His Highness the Amir, Kuwait people are bulwarks against conspiracy -- Sheikh Azzam

MANAMA, June 28 (KUNA) -- Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Kuwait's Ambassador to Bahrain Sheikh Azzam Mubarak Al-Sabah said "humanity of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and people of Kuwait are bulwarks against terrorism and sedition." Sheikh Azzam added in a statement during a meeting with a number of Bahraini senior religious scholars, late on Saturday, "that the terrorist act will strengthen Kuwaiti unity and coherence." He was alluding to the Friday bombing that targeted Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in downtown Kuwait, where 27 people died and 227 others suffered injuries. A lone suicide attacker with explosives concealed under his dress set off the explosives inside the mosque during the Friday prayers, turning the worshipping place into mayhem of smoldering wreckage, blood-smeared victims and debris. His Highness the Amir was on top of leaders who hurried to the scene, asserting national unity in the face of the ferocious attack intended to drive a wedge among Kuwaitis.
For their part, the religious scholars, during the meeting with Sheikh Azzam, condemned the terrorist act and described it as "a heinous crime against innocent people," calling on the GCC countries to unite against terrorism and terrorist groups that aim to destabilize security of the Gulf Cooperation Council States.
