GENEVA, June 26 (KUNA) -- Kuwait has delivered its final response on the list of recommendations made during the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the State of Kuwait, which took place last January, to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
This was declared by Permanent Representative of Kuwait to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghunaim on Friday. The ambassador told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the Human Rights Council is scheduled to hold an organizational meeting, late on Friday, for adopting outcomes of the universal periodic review and Kuwait's response on the list of recommendations made.
He predicted unanimous adoption by the Council of the results of the Universal Periodic Review on Kuwait, due to its achievements in terms of human rights issues, especially since the State of Kuwait has agreed to most of the recommendations, adding that a large part of which is either already finalized or work is underway for implementation.
He said the State of Kuwait appreciates and values the UPR's mechanism and its role in the development of the human rights system, expressing Kuwait's keenness on positive interaction with its mechanism.(end) ta.tg
