NEW YORK, June 2 (KUNA) -- Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon here on Monday to discuss the UN-Kuwait cooperation to realize the objectives of the World Program of Action for Youth (WPAY).
"During the fruitful talks, the Secretary General spoke highly of Kuwait support to the UN activities, particularly those relating to youth, and the efforts of the Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth Ahmad Alhendawi," Sheikh Salman told KUNA and Kuwait TV.
Kuwait pledged USD 1.5 million to the high-level event of the UN General Assembly marking WPAY's 20th Anniversary to highlight youth priorities in the Post-2015 development agenda on May 29, Sheikh Salman noted.
He added that he conveyed to Ban the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
The meeting gathered Kuwait's Permanent Delegate to the UN Ambassador Mansour Al-Otaibi, Chairman and Director General of the Public Authority for Youth and Sport (PAYS) Sheikh Ahmad Al-Mansour Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and Undersecretary of the State Ministry for Youth Affairs Sheikh Al-Zain Sabah Al-Nasser Al-Sabah, as well as other senior officials.
