KUWAIT, June 1 (KUNA) -- Acting Speaker of Nicaragua's Parliament Iris Montenegro applauded here on Monday humanitarian initiatives Kuwait makes and positive impact of such activities globally, besides its efforts for alleviating suffering of natural disasters' victims all over the world.
Kuwait is among countries that support humanitarian work on national, regional and global arenas, and plays a pioneering role in this field, she said in remarks following her meeting with the Red Crescent Society's Deputy Chairman Anwar Al-Hasawi.
The discussions dealt with KRCS's support to reconstruct a number of houses, demolished with a volcano eruption that happened in Nicaragua lately, she said, adding that the talks also tackled challenges facing the humanitarian work in various parts of the world, praising the efforts of the KRCS in offering aid to people in need.
Montenegro, who described the talks as fruitful and constructive, and the relations between her country and Kuwait as deep-rooted and strong, called on both sides to boost political and economic cooperation.
Al-Hasawi indicated that Montenegro's visit to the KRCS headquarters reflected support for the society's humanitarian activities, adding that Kuwait will always support any humanitarian effort in accordance with its foreign policy. (end) akw.amh.lb
