Syrian regime attacks kill or injure 78 civilians in Aleppo -- SOHR

AMMAN, May 30 (KUNA) -- At least 78 civilians were killed or injured when the Syrian regime aircraft dropped explosive-laden barrels on areas in Aleppo, north of Syria, on Saturday, according to a monitoring group.
Among the dead were 12 people, including three children and four women from one family, while no less than 15 others were wounded by an explosive barrel that fell near a car carrying a family in al-Sha'ar neighborhood, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) in a statement on Saturday.
The number of the dead is expected to rise due to serious injuries, the observatory added.
About 33 civilians were killed, while dozens others were injured by an explosive barrel on Souq al-Hal area in al-Bab city, controlled by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in eastern Aleppo, it said.
Earlier today, up to 45 civilians were killed by the explosive-laden barrels dropped by the Syrian regime's aicraft on Aleppo.
Two explosive barrels were dropped on a popular bazaar in the city's northeastern sector, patrolled by the mainstream opposition movement, the ISIL. The fiery blasts resulted in the death of 45 people and the injury of scores others.
Meanwhile, the observatory reported ongoing violent clashes between the militants of ISIL and the Syrian regime backed by Baath Brigades and National Defense forces in al-Hasakah.
Shells fired by the ISIL militants targeted areas of al-Hasakah city in the downtown and near the governmental square, the observatory said, adding there is no information about the casualties. (end) tk.hm
