KUWAIT, May 30 (KUNA) -- The Umm Al Aish liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) project is the first plant in the Middle East that uses the technology of "Flex Speed", the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) chief said.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the KOTC CEO Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al-Sabah said the Flex Speed is the latest technology used in filling gas cylinders with LNG at the filling centers and controlling the capacity of the plant.
He noted that the service of the plant started last March, adding it is a new achievement and a source of pride to the KOTC.
The company chief said the project involves construction of a LPG filling plant on a 150 000-m2 area at Umm Al Aish, about 30 km north of Kuwait city, adding the plant will have the capacity to fill 15-million gas cylinders every year.
The capacity of the two plants, at Umm Al-Aish and Al-Shuaiba, will meet the needs until 2030, Sheikh Talal said, noting the Umm Al-Aish plant will meet the requirements of the northern Kuwait City and the urban expansion in northern cities like Boubyan and Tahrir.
He said the project contains six buried tanks to guarantee high levels of efficiency and meet the international standards of safety and quality, with a storage capacity equivalent to 2,350 cubic meters of each tank.
He pointed out that the Umm Al-Aish project includes maintenance workshops, storages, building and a fleet to transfer the gas, stressing the KOTC seeks constantly to support the strategic plan and achieve goals of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. (end) asg.hb.hm
