Ban deplores killing of MINUMA peacekeeper

NEW YORK, May 29 (KUNA) -- UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon deplored in a statement late Thursday the shooting incident in Bamako that killed a peacekeeper of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), and other injured.
The UN chief called on the Malian authorities to swiftly and thoroughly investigate the incident and bring perpetrators to justice.
Ban reaffirmed the willingness of MINUSMA to cooperate closely with Malian authorities in this effort.
On Monday, two militants opened fire on a UN vehicle with two MINUSMA peacekeepers from Bangladesh. (end) mao.hb
