DOHA, May 29 (KUNA) --- The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has announced that the death of a 73 year-old national after being infected by the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS CoV).
In a press statement on Thursday, the SCH said that this is first death from the deadly virus recorded in 2015. It noted that the man was one of four cases infected by the virus this year.
The other three are receiving treatment in the hospitals and their conditions are stable, it noted.
The SCH urged the public to follow the necessary protocol set by the World Health Organization (WHO) when dealing with camels, avoid close contact with them when visiting farms and barns, and report to the health authorities on the development of any respiratory symptoms. (end)
