Secretary generals of GCC legislatures call for raising parliamentary awareness

DOHA, May 28 (KUNA) -- Secretary generals of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) legislatures reiterated Thursday the importance of raising parliamentary awareness among all Gulf people.
The call was made during their 18th regular meeting, which concluded earlier under the chairmanship of Qatari Advisory Council Secretary General Fahad bin Mubarak Al-Khayareen.
Al-Khayareen said the meeting was successful and fruitful at all levels.
The Qatari official added that participants also called for training the staff at the general secretariats of GCC legislative councils, noting that each general secretariat will hold training courses and workshops where affiliates of other secretariats can participate.
GCC parliament officials spoke during the closing session and expressed their gratitude and appreciation for Qatar's hospitality and hailed the Advisory Council's efforts in preparing for the event. They also praised the outcome of the meeting.
Al-Khayareen commended the efforts of the secretaries general of GCC parliaments and their cooperation. He also lauded the role of the secretaries in the success of the meeting thanks to their keenness on developing the performance of GCC legislative bodies. (end) nnd.mb
