British FM to warn European leaders Britain to vote to leave EU -- Hammond

LONDON, May 28 (KUNA) -- British Prime Minister David Cameron will warn European leaders that Britain will vote to leave the EU if required reforms are not implemented, said British Foreign Secretary.
Philip Hammond told BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Thursday that Cameroon was confident of securing "substantive" changes ahead of the UK's referendum.
Hammond said: "We have a clear set of requirements. The prime minister is very clear in dealing with European Union counterparts - that if we are not able to deliver on those big areas of concern that the British people have we will not win the referendum.
"And we expect our European Union partners to engage with us in delivering a package that will enable the British people to decide that they think Britain's future is best delivered inside the European Union." Hammond said that the UK-EU talks have started for some days, expecting there will be a progress within a few months.
He did not rule out a referendum next year instead of 2017, saying this is based on the progress of talks.
He added that Cameron is paying a European tour including Holland, Germany, Poland and France to build support for the changes he wants.
Meanwhile, Business Secretary Sajid Javid told BBC last week that the reduction of social aid paid for citizens of European Union is among the reforms that Cameroon will present to the EU leaders.
Under the current European laws, the British government has to pay 700 GBP to some European families, Javid said. (end) khd.hm
