Solving Greece debt crisis requires huge efforts - IMF chief

DRESDEN, Germany, May 28 (KUNA) -- International Monetary Fund Director General Christine Lagarde said Thursday solving Greece's debt crisis required huge efforts despite attempts to address this crisis over the past five years.
Efforts should be doubled to help Greece overcome its debt crisis, Lagarde said in a statement on sidelines of a meeting of finance ministers of the world's seven largest economies (G7), held in the German city of Dresden.
"We are still working and I can't say we have reached specific results that allow us to say that we have reached the end of the road to solving the crisis," added Lagarde.
She said the Greek officials have shown commitment to honor obligations regarding payment of installments for the international creditors, a commitment that Lagarde said have left "good impression." The Greek debt crisis will be one of the key files to be discussed by the finance ministers of the US, Canada, Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Japan.
Conferees during the two-day meeting, held in preparation for the G7 summit, due in Germany on June 7-8, will also discuss a host of other issues namely combating tax evasion, capital markets' conditions, government bonds, terrorism funding, financial consequences of the Ukrainian crisis.
