Drone strikes kill 6 rebels in E. Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, May 27 (KUNA) -- At least six Taliban rebels including a dreaded commander were killed in two drone strikes in Afghanistan's eastern Kunar and Nuristan provinces, said officials on Wednesday.
Col. Mohammad Noman Hatifi, spokesman for the 201st Selab Military Corps told media that a notorious insurgents' commander Maulvi Abdullah was killed by an unmanned drone assault in Wata Por district of Kunar province.
Moreover, he told that another missile strike took place in Want Waigal district of eastern Nuristan province, which left five militants dead including Mullah Younus, a leading commander of the area.
Earlier on Friday, Afghan officials claim to kill at least four rebels including a commander in NATO led drone strike in Nuristan province. The drone strike came at a time when NATO/ISAF forces have withdrawn their forces from Afghanistan, handing over the overall security control to local Afghan forces after 13 years of war at the end of last year.
