KUWAIT, May 27 (KUNA) -- Bangladesh's Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulhasan Mahmood Ali said here on Wednesday that the current session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will be able to deal "strictly and credibly with the conflicts our Islamic nations suffer from." He added during the opening ceremony of the 42nd ministerial meeting of OIC countries that his country expressed its position towards protecting the unity and security of Yemen, and will support the country on all levels in order to restore stability, away from radicalism and intolerance.
He expressed aspiration to reach a resolution to resolve the conflict in Yemen peacefully, expressing his concern over mounting terrorism activities which threaten the future of the Islamic nation. "The cowardly acts committed by terrorist groups of killing children besides setting off explosions, and other bad actions done under the name of Islam, reflect a negative image about our religion to the international community, which will greatly affect us," the Minister said.
Bangladesh is ready to take the needed procedures along with OIC members in order to encounter the terrorist groups, he affirmed.
He applauded the efforts exerted by First Deputy Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and OIC Director General Iyad Ameen Madani in boosting joint cooperation between OIC members, by holding a large number of meetings and conferences that also witness the presence of political and religious leaderships.
OIC should enhance cooperation and coordination with the international organizations for promoting tolerance and facing terrorism, he said. (end) amn.hrz.lb
