OIC session to contribute to promoting tolerance -- Gambia's FM

KUWAIT, May 27 (KUNA) -- Gambian Foreign Minister Neneh MacDouall-Gaye on Wednesday said the holding of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's 42nd session would help in boosting the organizations' role for promoting tolerance and renouncing terrorism across the globe.
Addressing the session's opening meeting, the minister said on behalf of the African group that challenges facing the Arab world warrant close cooperation among the OIC member states and adopting a clear and integrated strategy to deal with these problems. Through such a session, goals upon which the OIC was founded could be achieved, she said.
This session focuses on Islamphobia and bolstering economic cooperation among the member states, she affirmed.
African nations, in cooperation with international powers, are combating terrorism in north Africa, the southern Sahara, Nigeria and Mali, the minister said, affirming that they would pursue the fighting against terrorism.
She congratulated His Highness the Amir for being proclaimed by the UN as a "Humanitarian Leader," as well as for naming Kuwait a "Humanitarian Center." (end) amn.hz.rk
