OIC to honor His Highness the Amir in 42nd session

JEDDAH, May 25 (KUNA) -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) announced it will honor His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for the UN's Humanitarian Leader title during the 42nd OIC session to be held in Kuwait on May 27 and 28.
His Highness the Amir will perform a speech at the opening of the session, while First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah will head the meeting, the OIC said in a statement on Monday.
The OIC noted that Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir and Secretary General of the organization Eyad Madani will also perform speeches in the opening session.
The 42nd session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers entitled "Joint Vision in Promoting Tolerance and Rejecting Terrorism" will focus on the current conflicts in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Palestine, as well as fighting terrorism and Islamophobia, the OIC said.
Meanwhile, the statement noted that the meeting will also discuss conflicts in the Islamic world and a number of different parts of social, economic, cultural, technological and humanitarian topics.
Moreover, the session's agenda includes the conditions of the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, the peace process in Mali and the current situation in Somalia, including development and reconstruction in the country, OIC added.(end) nh.ag
