French film "Dheepan" wins Cannes' Palme d'Or

PARIS, May 25 (KUNA) -- French film "Dheepan" by director Jacques Audiard won the 68th Cannes film festival's prestigious Palme d'Or award, with best actor and actress awards also going to the host nation.
The second-place, or Grand Prix as it is known, went to "Son of Saul" by Hungarian director Laszlo Nemes, with Greece's Yorgos Lanthimos taking the third-place Jury Prize for "The Lobster".
Vincent Lindon clinched Best Actor for his role in "The Measure of a Man" with Emmanuelle Bercot taking Best Actress for her part in the film, "My King", both of whom hail from France.
Taiwan's Hou Hsiao-Hsien won Best Director for "The Assassin", with "Chronic", by Mexico's Michel Franco, clinching Best Screenplay.
Some 19 films from around the world competed in the race for one of film-making's most prestigious international awards. (end) jk.amm.sd
