Roadside blast kills 4 security personnel in N. Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, May 23 (KUNA) -- At least four security personnel were killed in a roadside blast in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region on Saturday, said officials.
According to security officials, at least four security personnel were killed when an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted their convoy in Datta Khel area of North Waziristan.
The security personnel were on routine patrolling in the area when the explosives went off destroying the vehicle completely. Security forces cordoned off the area immediately after the blast and a search operation went underway.
North Waziristan is one of the seven tribal regions of Pakistan governed by tribal laws and facing militants' insurgency.
The attack came at a time when Pakistan military is undergoing a comprehensive operation against foreign and local militants in the tribal region. (end) sbk.mt
