KUWAIT, May 22 (KUNA) -- President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) and Speaker of the National Assembly, Marzouq Al-Ghanim, condemned the "terrorist explosion" against Muslim worshippers in a mosque in the Saudi eastern governorate of Al-Qatif.
"This terrorist attack that targetted innocent people in a mosque underscores that terrorism targets anything indiscriminately, and its confrontation is a religious and national obligation," Al-Ghanim said in a statement.
A suicide bomber detonated the explosive belt he was wearing during Friday prayers in the town of Al-Qediah in Qatif killing 21 people and injuring 102 others.
Al-Ghanim extended full solidarity with the Saudi government and people against terrorism.
The speaker extended deepest condolences for the families of the victims and wished speedy recovery for the injured. (end) bs
