ISTANBUL, May 6 (KUNA) -- The National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces (NCFROF) welcomed a call by the GCC countries during their leaders' meeting on Tuesday to hold a conference for Syrian opposition forces in Riyadh.
NCFROF Secretary General Mohamad Yahya Maktabi greatly appreciated this move, saying: "We affirm the effective role of GCC countries, mainly Saudi Arabia, in supporting Syrian people's demands for freedom and dignity and in contributing to the transitional process." The coalition abides by a political solution and negotiations, accusing the Syrian regime of impeding international initiatives so as to suppress Syrian revolution forces, stressing that the regime and its aides must leave power.
The GCC leaders in their final statement on Tuesday announced an initiative for holding a conference for Syrian opposition forces in Riyadh to draw up the future of a post-Assad Syria. (end) ta.hm
