KUWAIT, May 5 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Abdullah Al-Muzayen made it to the Asian Individual Squash Championships men's final after a close fought 3-2 victory over Nasir Iqbal of Pakistan on Monday.
The 2013 runner-up is no stranger to Pakistani opposition, having been defeated in the former event's final by Aamir Atlas Khan in Islamabad.
After losing the first set 8-11, he came from behind to take two successive games (11-9, 11-9) before Iqbal's leveller in the third (5-11) and his extraordinary 11-9 fifth game comeback.
Pakistan, the most successful nation in the individual men's event, lost another of their own, Farhan Zaman, in the corresponding semi-final fixture as he bowed out to Leo Au of Hong Kong.
In the women's, eight-time holder and number one seed Nicol David of Malaysia made it once again to the final in a bid to continue her eight consecutive year winning streak which witnessed a pause only at the 2013 championships.
David thrashed India's Joshana Chinappa, 3-0, and will face 2013 champion Annie Au of Hong Kong in a mouthwatering final. (end) fsa.sd
