Kuwait encourages staff charged with patients' safety

KUWAIT, May 4 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Health awards "the safety star" for distinguished medical staff overseeing patients at health centers in the GCC countries.
Dr. Walid Al-Falah, the assistant undersecretary for quality and upgrading affairs at the MoH, said in a statement on Monday that the award was applauded by the Director General of the GCC Health Council's Executive Bureau, Dr. Toufic Khoja, who presented the Kuwaiti move during a recent meeting of the GCC committee tasked with patients' safety.
The granting of the award was approved during the commission meeting, held in Oman in April.
Dr. Al-Falah affirmed that the award is intended to encourage staff and workers in the domain and boost competition among the medical staff.
An applicant should have undergone at least two training courses for safety and hazard management and should have worked at the public health sector for at least a year, he said, mentioning some of the terms for contesting to earn the award. (end) ran.amh.tb.rk
