MOSCOW, May 2 (KUNA) -- Ukrainian government forces shelled the eastern city of Donetsk with artillery and heavy machineguns, according to the Russian Interfax news agency Saturday.
The shelling targetted the city of Donetsk and its towns as well as the airport area, Interfax quoted sources in the self-defense forces of the pro-Russia separatists as saying.
They said the Ukrainian forces were using 155mm heavy machineguns, which Kiev recently obtained from Western countries.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian news agency quoted sources of the press department of the government forces as accusing the separatists of violating the ceasefire 35 times in the past 24 hours.
They said the separatists attacked the Ukrainian forces 11 times and used 122mm heavy machineguns. (end)
