DOHA, April 29 (KUNA) -- It is of crucial necessity that GCC states work closely together to develop more frameworks for joint security work capable of withstanding regional challenges and difficulties, said Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Wednesday.
In a speech at the opening of the 16th consultative meeting of the GCC Ministers of Interior, Sheikh Mohammad said it was advisable that GCC states took a common stance regarding current regional issues in order to easily achieve universal peace and security for all peoples of the GCC.
He referred to fighting terrorism and organized crime as well as transnational crimes as some of the challenges facing law enforcement authorities in the region.
He said that today's consultative meeting came at a time when the GCC region was in the throes of sensitive and delicate developments with direct impact on its peace and stability, such as the events in Yemen, for example.
Moreover, he touted in his speech the military undertaking of Decisive Storm, led by Saudi Arabia, to help the Yemeni people restore the legitimacy of their government, noting his condolences to Saudi Arabia on the loss of the lives of some of its fighting men in Yemen.
