KUWAIT, April 27 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah received Monday Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah accompanied by a number of key Arab figures participating in the 12th Arab Media Forum, which kicked off here late Sunday.
The Arab figures included Bahraini Minister of Information Isa bin Abdulrahman Al-Hammadi, ex-foreign minister of Morocco Mohammad bin Essa, Bahraini King's Advisor Nabeel bin Yacoub Al-Hamar, Member of the Saudi Shura Council Dr. Isa Al-Ghaith, and several chief editors and officials of the Arab and Gulf newspapers and satellite TV channels.
During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak underlined the importance of abidance by ethics and professionalism of media work. He also called for commitment to the values of credibility and subjectivity and to pursue accuracy in the published and reported news and information.
His Highness the Premier emphasized the role of media in spreading knowledge, raising awareness and promoting enlightenment.
He called for greater cooperation among Arab media institutions to upgrade performance and stand up against the strange ideas which contradict Arab values and principles.
His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak expressed hopes the forum would end up with a number of guidelines and regulations to enhance the role of social media in society-serving and state-building efforts. (end) ibi
