DOHA, April 27 (KUNA) -- GCC interior undersecretaries' seventh meeting got underway here on Monday discussing means for bolstering inter-GCC cooperation at this level, in shadow of critical regional conditions and development.
Qatar's Public Security chief Major General Saad Al-Khulaifi said in the opening statement that the meeting was held with aim of discussing plans for combating all forms of crime, noting that current critical conditions in the region warrant "a decisive stance on our part for preserving our peoples' accomplishments." He indicated at concerns of possible "repercussions of the Yemeni crisis on the GCC countries." Bahrain's Interior Undersecretary Major General Khaled Al-Absi said "our nation continues to witness security challenges due to growth of terrorist organizations backed by regional powers in addition to spread of extremism and sectarianism." "In shadow of such dangers and challenges it has become necessary that we unite our efforts for confronting them," he said, re-affirming the joint keenness on the GCC countries' security.
He praised Saudi Arabia's successful efforts against terrorism and the Saudi-masterminded military operations in Yemen. He also lauded the GCC countries' participation in the military action against the Houthi militias noting such solidarity manifests the solid mutual cooperation among the GCC countries in face of surrounding dangers.
