KUWAIT, April 26 (KUNA) -- KUNA Board Chairman and Director-General Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah met visiting Bahraini Minister of Information Isa Al-Hammadi in his office here on Sunday.
During the meeting, they discussed media relations between KUNA and Bahraini media organizations, various media issues and ongoing Arab efforts to develop the Arab media discourse and overhaul Arab media agencies.
The Bahraini minister appreciated efforts exerted by Gulf news agencies to develop their tools and potential, as well as their role in the promotion of Arab integration and joint defense for Arab issues.
He said he was impressed by KUNA's great development, adding it was always in the lead of revamping news services and maintaining its distinguished media position.
For his part, KUNA Board Chairman and Director-General Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah stressed the significance of promoting prospects of media cooperation among Arab countries which boast experience, efficiency and potential but only need to share views and experience and coordinate positions.
He spoke highly of efforts exerted by Bahrain News Agency (BNA) Director-General Mohannad Al-Nuaimi in this field, as well as his keenness on reactivating the role of the BNA and other Arab news agencies.
The meeting was attended by KUNA Deputy Director-General for Administrative, Financial and Communication Sector Abdulhameed Malek and KUNA Deputy Director-General for the Editorial Sector Saad Al-Ali.
Following the meeting, the Bahraini minister toured KUNA sections in order to get acquainted with its news services and development.
The Bahraini minister of information is here to attend the 12th Session of the Arab Media Forum, which will commence here later today.
It is held under the aegis of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
The opening ceremony will be addressed by Minister of Information and Minister of Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, and Amiri Diwan's Advisor and Chairman of the International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO) Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatouq on the positive media role in the promotion of human issues.
The event attracts some 1,000 figures, in addition to representatives of Arab and foreign media institutions, major newspapers and magazines.
It features several activities, including a media and communication technology exhibition and a ceremony to give awards to a constellation of Kuwaiti and Arab media figures in appreciation for their pioneering role in the promotion of Arab media.
Launched in 2003, the Arab Media Forum acts as a platform for interaction among Arab journalists and media personnel. (end) hh.tb.mt
