UN's NPT conf. starts Monday in New York

VIENNA, April 26 (KUNA) -- The 2015 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) is set to kick off in New York on Sunday to limit nuclear weapons in the Middle East.
The conference, which is held every five years, aims to prevent nuclear weapons from spreading among the Middle Eastern countries, while also promoting the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, Kuwait's Ambassador to Austria and Delegate to the UN organizations Sadiq Marafi told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Sunday.
The event's agenda includes discussing means of making the Middle East region a mass destruction weapons-free zone, said the Ambassador.
The conference must work to execute the decisions of the 1995 session on the Middle East, which states that all countries must join the treaty including Israel, and allow the UN inspectors to examine all nuclear sites, in order to come out with positive results, Marafi noted.(end) mq.ag
