PAAF, ACSAD sign memorandums of understanding

KUWAIT, April 25 (KUNA) -- The Public Authority for Agriculture and Fisheries (PAAF) signed on Saturday several memorandums of understanding with the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) regarding the exchange of expertise on agricultural concerns.
Today's signing is in keeping with PAAF's aspiration for self-sufficiency in agricultural products, said Nabila Al-Khalil, PAAF's chairperson, noting that a technical panel will be formed to follow up the cooperation between both sides on the content of the memorandums.
Saying that ACSAD carries out numerous projects in the Arab world including those having to do with improving the pedigrees of sheep and goats and other livestock animals, its director Rafiq Saleh told KUNA that ACSAD was currently involved in a project in Kuwait to improve the planting of palm trees and increasing their yield of choice dates.
He looked forward to having ACSAD open an office in Kuwait soon. (end) zak.ajs
