Geneva May meetings are not "Geneva III" - de Mistura

NEW YORK, April 25 (KUNA) -- UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura updated the Security Council Friday behind closed doors on his next plan for Syria.
New series of talks scheduled on May are to be held in Geneva, de Mistura told reporters that "this is not a Geneva III," explaining that he will be holding these meetings with all the parties involved separately.
"By the end of June we should hopefully be in the position of reassessing whether there is any convergence on issues of substance or not," he affirmed.
Back in February, the UN Special Envoy said about the Aleppo freeze attempt that now failed, that based on past experiences this is a difficult issue to be achieved, "I have no illusions." (end) mao.tg
