Saudi officials nab suspect in shooting death of two policemen

RIYADH, April 24 (KUNA) -- The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced on Friday the arrest of one of the suspects in the recent shooting death of two policemen in the eastern sector of the city of Riyadh.
The suspect was caught at a hiding place on a farm in the province of Heraimla, said the ministry spokesperson Maj. General Mansour Al-Turki in a press statement today.
The suspect confessed to killing the two policemen who were inside their patrol car, said Al-Turki, adding that the suspect had committed this crime upon instructions to do so by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants in Syria.
Investigations in this crime case resulted in the discovery of weapons, ammunition, and large sums of money, said the ministry spokesperson, noting that seven cars, three of them booby-trapped-ready and a cache of explosives were also discovered by authorities.
Moreover, the Saudi authorities retrieved three cell or mobile phones which upon examination found to have stored messages (both in picture and sound) showing communication between the suspect and his ISIL handlers in Syria, said Al-Turki.
The Saudi Ministry of Interior has issued an order to another suspect involved in the shooting crime, currently on the lam, named Nawaf Bin Sharif Al-Enizi, to hand himself in, while urging the public to inform the ministry with any information about the fugitive. The ministry has set a one million Saudi riyal bounty for any information leading to the arrest of the fugitive. (end) yms.ajs
