PARIS, April 22 (KUNA) -- France on Wednesday reiterated its support for the goals of the Saudi-led broad, regional Coalition seeking to stem a violent rebellion against the legitimate government of Yemen.
"As (Foreign Minister) Laurent Fabius indicated, France stands at the side of its partners in the region in the efforts to restore the stability and unity of Yemen," Foreign Ministry spokesman Romain Nadal said in answer to a Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) question.
Nadal said that Paris welcomes the launching of "Operation Renewal of Hope" which aims to deliver urgent humanitarian aid wherever necessary and to help evacuate foreign residents in Yemen.
"We want the rapid and full implementation of resolution 2216 adopted by the United Nations Security Council last April 14 and which we co-sponsored," the French official said in his response to the KUNA question.
He said France also "calls on all Yemeni parties to return to a political process for national reconciliation, the only path to arrive at a global, political solution" to the crisis.
The Coalition has announced it is halting air operations under operation "Decisive Storm" which aimed to prevent the Houthi rebellion overrunning areas in the south of Yemen and also to bolster the Yemeni government. (end) jk.mt
