KCCI urges further economic cooperation with Singapore
KUWAIT, April 20 (KUNA) -- Deputy Chairman of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Abdulwahab Al-Wazzan on Monday urged harder work to bolster joint investments and trade with Singapore.
Al-Wazzan made the call during a meeting with visiting Singaporean Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli and his accompanying delegation.
The visit is an excellent opportunity for boosting bilateral cooperation, he said.
Singapore is a strategic investment destination, despite a small geographical size, the KCCI senior official said, pointing to the enormous economic potential in the City-State.
He added that the reformist approach adopted by the Singaporean government over the past years has granted it an advanced world level regarding combating corruption.
For his part, the Second Minister Zulkifli said that the major aim of the visit is to consolidate bilateral economic ties, referring to a remarkable presence of Singaporean companies in Kuwait. He called for focusing on small and medium size enterprises.
Zulkifli stressed the fact that the island country is a key trade gate for East Asia, calling for making the best use of the Free Trade Agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and Singapore that entered into force last January. (end) mfs.tab.msa
