Kuwait's media is open to world culture -- official

KUWAIT, April 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's media have been open to all cultures and peoples, nations and various external journalism organizations even before the country's independence in 60s, The assistant undersecretary for television affairs Yusuf Mustafa asserted on Monday.
Mustafa told KUNA, during his visit to China, that Radio Kuwait has remained one of the most important radio stations for a long period of time as a source for issues related arts, heritage and literature, while Kuwait TV attracts viewers in the Gulf and Arab region.
He expressed aspiration of the Kuwaiti media leadership, particularly Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Sabah, to achieve greater openness and communication with prestigious media organizations throughout the world, especially those that started operating during early times of broadcasting early last century, such as British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC, and China Radio International (CRI).
A Kuwaiti four-member delegation visited China's Central Television (CCTV) where they had talks with CCTV Arabic service and senior officials in CCTV.
The Chinese official expressed his hope to enhance cooperation between Kuwait State TV and CCTV Arabic.
The Chinese official also called on the Kuwaiti TV and other authorities to take part in a cinema festival in December, dedicated for Muslim communities in the nation, also indicating that the state-run television would grant documentaries to the Kuwait TV.
The Kuwaiti team is shooting Chinese landmarks to be aired by the Kuwaiti cultural channel, Al-Arabi, The Kuwaiti delegation after concluding their Beijing's visit is due to travel to Shanghai to get acquainted with media establishments and taking footages for Kuwait's Al-Arabi Cultural Channel.
