Kuwaiti woman dies due to swine flu

KUWAIT, April 18 (KUNA) -- A female Kuwaiti citizen passed away at dawn on Saturday at Addan Hospital after being infected with swine flu, the hospital director announced.

Dr. Bader Al-Otaibi told KUNA the patient was pregnant with a twin and was in last phase of her pregnancy. A caesarean surgery was conducted to bring the two infants to life.
The twin babies are sound and not infected the with disease, he said.
The patient was admitted on March 22 after undergoing treatment at a private hospital. She was in coma when she was brought to Al-Addan Hospital.
Dr. Al-Otaibi indicated that staff struggled to keep the woman alive, using cardiac revival equipment.
The hospital admitted seven such cases in the past month; one passed away and the others were treated and discharged. (end) shd.rk
