KUWAIT, April 18 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society has launched a five-day campaign to raise donations for Yemen, Chairman Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer announced on Saturday.

In a statement to KUNA, Dr. Al-Sayer said the campaign, held at the society's headquarters, "is being organized in solidarity with the Yemeni brothers who are in difficult conditions due to shortage of medicines and food." The KRCS has mobilized its humanitarian resources for the humanitarian campaign for Yemen.
According to reports of the World Food Programme, Yemen is on the brink of a food shortage catastrophe, Dr. Al-Sayer said, urging good-will people, as well as business companies, to speedily offer donations for those in need in Yemen.
He indicated that such help is necessary to secure water, provide health care and education for the Yemeni people. He also reiterated need for medical and food supplies for the humanitarian operation.
