KUWAIT, April 13 (KUNA) -- Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) regional delegation Yahia Alibi has lauded efforts by the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) extending relief aid to afflicted people worldwide.
Alibi and KRCS's chairman Helal Al-Sayer on Monday discussed the possibility of the Kuwaiti society's hosting the coming Council of Delegates, a biennial meeting for the ICRC, the International Federation and the individual national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies, he told KUNA.
The event provides a forum to discuss movement strategy and debate global humanitarian issues facing the international community.
Today's meeting also discussed the potential of nominating members from the KRCS emergency and catastrophe team to join operation centers in disaster areas, in a bid to enhance their capabilities, Alibi added.
Alibi and Al-Sayer also discussed urgent relief aid for the Yemeni people, especially medical supplies and ambulances, as well as power generators. (end) ako.nfa.msa
