KUWAIT, April 12 (KUNA) -- Minister of Oil and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Ali Al-Omair underscored here on Sunday the significance of the energy, environmental and economy issues being directly reflected on the development.
Al-Omair said, in his speech during the opening of a forum of Kuwaiti engineers which is organized by the Association of Indian engineers working in the country, that the idea of the forum which tackles compatibility between energy, environment and the economy were "compatible with what is going on in Kuwait".
For his part, Executive Vice President of Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery in Kuwait National Petroleum Company Mutlaq Al-Azmi said in his speech that energy is the main engine of life and the main source of income at the present time.
Al-Azmi noted the increase in energy consumption in the world due to the increased requirements of modern life and continuous technological development, especially that the increase of energy use has led to an internal obsession in fear of depletion of natural sources of energy.
He explained that the forum focuses in its current session on three axes including energy, environment and the economy, while the accompanying technical conference of the forum would include 19 working papers, most important of which is the relationship between the environment and energy, as well the exchange of expertise in these areas.
He said that Kuwait is one of the world's countries mostly and widely using energy, electricity and water with regard to the population, "which makes us more cautious on how to rationalize those sources to reach the ranks of developed countries economically." He added that a number of young Kuwaiti engineers and students of Kuwait University are taking part in the event to offer their thoughts and narratives to resolve technical problems facing work in the energy, environment and economy areas.
