WASHINGTON, April 12 (KUNA) -- National Assembly Speaker of Kuwait Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim received in Washington D.C. late Saturday Chairman of National Union of Kuwait Student USA Branch Mohammad Al-Zayed and union members.
He stressed, in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) and Kuwait Television, on the keenness of the National Assembly to listen to various views and proposals by student, regarding a proposed draft law, expected to be submitted very soon, for regulating the student movement, expressing confidence in prospects of reaching consensus between the lawmakers and those in charge of the movement through dialogue. The National Assembly Speaker Al Ghanim, who is participating in the Global Parliamentary Conference, hosted by the Global Parliamentary Network of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF), urged the Kuwaiti student unions to forward suggestions and make their voices heard to the largest number of legislators, in order to be studied before voting by the National Assembly.
He stressed on the keenness of the parliamentary educational affairs committee on examining the planned law, listening to different points of view, especially the National Union of Kuwait Students NUKS, which will present proposed amendments. For his part, Chairman Al-Zayed expressed gratitude to the National Assembly for enabling NUKS' members to express their attitude toward the law, hoping to reach mutual understanding.
Speaker Al-Ghanim, accompanied by MPs Yusuf Al-Zalzalah and Khalil Abdullah, was received, upon his arrival in the US on Saturday, by Kuwait's Ambassador to the US Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Dr. Merza Hassan, World Bank Board Member.(end) yt.ha
