CAIRO, April 8 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby said Wednesday relations between the pan-Arab organization and Turkey were based on mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs.
Al-Araby made a statement following a reaction by the Turkish foreign ministry, which condemned Al-Araby's remarks at the end of the March 29 Arab Summit regarding Turkey's role in the region.
He said the Arab League was concerned over interference of regional countries in the Arab internal affair, and the league believed the activities of these countries, which he did not name, would undermine security and stability.
Turkey's foreign ministry had condemned Al-Araby's "unfounded allegations about Turkey" which aimed at "distorting the principled and peaceful policy that Turkey pursues in the region." (end) mfm.bs
